Description

   

Locality:

Madagascar Island (East of Africa).

Cold Hardiness: 

28 F.

Trunk type:

Clean with a reddish-colored fuzzy crown shaft, hence the name "Teddy Bear Palm"

Leaf type:

Pinnate (feather shape).

Suckering/Solitary:

Solitaire (single trunk).

Maintenance:

Average

Speed of growth:

Medium

Height:

Probably about 30 feet 

Soil requirements:

Average moisture, good drainage.

Sun Requirements:

Part day or full day along the coastal areas.  For far inland hot areas, needs some protection

General Description:

A great new introduction in the past decade.  Beautiful, desirable, easy to grow.
