Arenga microcarpa

Locality:

Moluccas Islands (East of Indonesia) and Papua New Guinea.

Hardiness: 

Should be cold hardy, but data is lacking.

Trunk type:

Clumping with slender multiple trunks.

Leaf type:

Dark-green pinnate, (feather shape) leaves.

Suckering/Solitary:

This palm is a suckering (multiple trunks) plant.

Maintenance:

Little experience with this species

Speed of growth:

Unknown but would guess is slow growing

Height:

Approximately ten feet of height.

Soil requirements:

General Description:

Similar to Arenga engleri but may have more cold hardiness.  Time will tell about this.

Arenga microcarpa: 
Sago is made from this palm; sago is a type of grain that is used in cooking by using the trunks of this palm.
