Description

   

Locality:

From the Malaysian peninsula to the Philippines and Indonesia.

Cold Hardiness: 

Cold sensitive, for tropical areas. Doesn't tolerate cold weather, very marginal even in the best areas of So CA.  Does poorly at low 30s, F. or severe cold damage.

Trunk type:

Slender, green trunk with rings, green colored crown shaft.

Leaf type:

Pinnate (feathery shaped), arched leaves.

Suckering/Solitary:

Solitaire (single trunk).

Maintenance:

Average

Speed of growth:

Medium

Height:

20' feet plus.

Soil requirements:

Average moist soil, regular watering and good drainage.

Sun Requirements:

Some partial shade to full sun in the tropics.

General Description:

Very gorgeous palm in the appropriate environment. 

Other Notes:

Fruit known to have a psychotropic effect on people.
