Description

   

Locality:

Papua New Guinea, (South-East Asia, East-side of the Island of New Guinea; including a group of islands North of Australia).

Cold Hardiness: 

Needs tropical or semi-tropical environment.  Not good for temperate areas. Difficult to grow in Southern California, possibly down to 32, F.

Trunk type:

Single trunk, crownshafted [a woody shaft at the top of the trunk composed of tightly wrapped leaf-bases].

Pinnate (feather shape)

Suckering/Solitary:

Solitary (single trunk)

Maintenance:

Average

Speed of growth:

Medium

Height:

30' feet plus.

Soil requirements:

Good drainage, rich soil.

Sun Requirements:

In tropical areas, full sun

General Description:

Beautiful medium sized tree; elegantly recurved leaves, tall and slender crownshaft palm.
